How to get D2GS working on 64-bit OS (XP 64-bit, Vista 64-bit, 7 64-bit)

PROBLEM:

D2GS runs and remains started but does not function or listen for telnet connections.

CAUSE:
=====
Running D2GS under a 64-bit operating system.

SOLUTION:
========
EXPORT //HKLM/SOFTWARE/D2Server/D2GS to desktop.
Right click .reg file -->  Edit.

Find:

Code:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\D2Server\D2GS]

Replace With:

Code:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\D2Server\D2GS]

Merge with registry.
Telnet on port 8888.
